EDUC 621 - Literacy Instruction and Adolescent Literature, Grades 5–12 Credit(s): 3 3 semester hours Students become proficient in identifying the factors affecting reading comprehension and in the use of appropriate strategies for developing comprehension. Emphasis is placed on correct preparation for successful reading, as well as in being able to read for information, vocabulary development, and the reading-writing connection. Students will use a variety of literature resources, including biographies, chapter fiction books, novels, poems and short stories. Ten hours of fieldwork required.
