HIST 200 - The Black Church in the Urban Community Credit(s): 3 An examination of the Black church and Black theology, and their contributions to the Kingdom of God and the Christian community. Examines the salvation experience of Black people, social issues, preaching, and worship. Student will study the historical antecedents of the development of the Black Church to gain a better understanding of the progression and continuous stages of movement of Black Churches and denominations and their centrality to African American culture and communities; Students will evaluate and synthesize their understanding of the uniqueness of the Black Church to the larger social, theological, political arenas, in which it has participated.
Only open to students in the B.A. Liberal Arts and Science program.
