ENGL 243 - Shakespeare in Music and Drama Credit(s): 3 This is an interdisciplinary course that explores how selected plays of Shakespeare have inspired a stylistically rich variety of musical treatments. Beginning with an overview of how musical interpolations figured in Elizabethan productions, the course proceeds to an in-depth study of musical works immortalizing Shakespeare, from the earl nineteenth century to the present. No technical knowledge of music is required.
