CART 370 - Graphic Design I: Word and Image Credit(s): 3 3 semester hours, 1.5 hours studio/lab per week Prerequisite(s): Minimum grade of B- in CART 214 and CART 225 . An introduction to the principles of communication design problem solving while exploring visual semiotics–the interrelationships between form, function, content, and meaning. The fundamentals of typographic design and hierarchies are explored through practical and experimental print projects. Methods for analysis and production will be introduced, with an emphasis on understanding the relationship between words and images in developing a visual language. Fall only
