FINC 235 -  Financial Management

Credit(s): 3
3 hours lecture, 3 hours contact
Prerequisite(s): ACCT 120 .
This course offers a rigorous and applied introduction to corporate finance, providing students with the analytical frameworks, tools, and decision-making models necessary to evaluate and manage the financial operations of firms in domestic and global capital markets. Students will develop fluency in the “language of finance” and gain competencies in identifying, modeling, and solving financial decision problems under conditions of uncertainty, market imperfection, and institutional constraint.

Topics include time value of money, asset valuation, capital budgeting, risk and return analysis, financial planning, cost of capital, capital structure, dividend policy, and working capital management. The course integrates U.S. and international financial markets, ethics in financial decision-making, and institutional considerations such as taxation and financial regulation. Emphasis is placed on quantitative analysis, the use of spreadsheets for modeling, and the interpretation of financial data in strategic corporate contexts.

By the end of the course, students will be able to critically assess corporate financial decisions, perform valuation and scenario analyses, and communicate financial insights in clear, structured formats suitable for internal and external stakeholders.
