Credit(s): 3
3 hours lecture, 3 hours contact
Prerequisite(s): MATH 116  .
This course introduces students to both descriptive and inferential statistics, equipping them with the analytical tools to interpret data and make informed business decisions. Emphasis is placed on real-world application, helping students critically analyze data sets and solve business problems using statistical methods.
Students will gain foundational knowledge in statistical reasoning, probability, distributions, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression analysis, and introductory econometrics. Through workshops, exercises, and software-based projects, students will learn how to apply these techniques to real data and interpret the results effectively.
A key component of the course includes hands-on experience with statistical software (e.g. Excel), enabling students to conduct independent quantitative analyses. Students will develop a deep understanding of both the technical procedures and the assumptions underlying statistical models, building the skills necessary for evaluating research questions and presenting evidence-based conclusions.
