Transfer Policy

Transfer credits are awarded for specialty courses earned at accredited institutions that have an articulation agreement with Mercy University. For other schools, the courses accepted as transfer credits in the major must be completed in a program approved by the American Bar Association. The courses are evaluated by the Program Director to see if they are equivalent to the courses offered in Mercy’s program (i.e., semester hours, numbers of credits, course requirements, etc.) Each transcript is carefully reviewed before any transfer credits in the major are awarded. Online courses are not transferable in the major. All students must complete at least 18 credits toward the major at Mercy University. However, a minimum of 12 credits of legal specialty courses must be completed at the College if a student transfers from an ABA-approved program. The university accepts overall 75 credits from 2-year schools and 90 from 4-year schools. No legal specialty courses can be completed by course challenge, exam, or portfolio

Note(s)

There is an 18-credit residency requirement in the Paralegal Studies major.
