	EDUC 500 - Educational Foundations from Diverse PerspectivesEDUC 502 - Foundations in Education for Students with Disabilities from Birth through AdolescenceEDUC 505 - Teaching English as a Second LanguageEDUC 507 - Approaches to Literacy in Early Childhood through AdolescenceEDUC 517 - Educational Psychology and Adolescent Development The above 15 credits are taken as an undergraduate student as part of the B.A. degree program. The remaining 21 credits are taken as a graduate student after receiving the B.A. degree and meeting the admission requirements for acceptance into the M.S. degree program. To complete the master’s degree in one calendar year, students must take two courses during summer session. Please see Graduate Catalog for course descriptions of the above courses and for specific requirements for the M.S. degree. Graduate Progression CriteriaIn Spring of the fourth year, students in the B.A. English / M.S. Adolescence Education, Grades 7-12 program will be evaluated by the School of Education Associate Dean and graduate Program Director for a review of their qualifications to progress to the graduate education portion of the program.  Students who meet the following requirements will be permitted to progress to the graduate education portion of the 4+1 program: 
	Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and in Graduate Education coursesSubmit an Effective Educator Statement. Submission of an acceptable score on the Verbal Reasoning, Mathematical Reasoning, and Analytic Writing subtests of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the PRAXIS Core Exams in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. Students in the 4+1 program who do not meet the above criteria, will not be permitted to continue to the graduate education portion of the program. Their major will be changed to the B.A. English and the undergraduate degree will be conferred upon completion of the undergraduate program. Credits earned for graduate education courses taken will be applied to the undergraduate degree as elective credit. |
