The Baccalaureate Nursing majors are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN).

Honor Society

Sigma Theta Tau is an International Honor Society of Nursing. Mercy University is part of the Sigma Theta Tau Zeta Omega At Large Chapter. The Zeta Omega chapter started in 1978.

The Sigma Mission is to develop nurse leaders to improve healthcare. The Sigma Vision is to connect, empower nurse leaders, and transform global healthcare.

Students are invited to join when they have obtained the requisite number of nursing credits and the requisite GPA.

Purpose

The School of Nursing is dedicated to providing premier nursing undergraduate and graduate educational programs to equip students with the intellectual, technical and professional competencies they need to excel and advance as nurse leaders, health care providers, health promotion experts and nurse educators. More than just focusing on personal careers, our goal is to prepare students to use their knowledge and abilities to transform nursing and advance health equity.

Program Dismissal Review Policy

This Mercy University School of Nursing Program Dismissal Review Policy applies to programs that are professionally accredited or seeking accreditation. The purpose of the SON Dismissal Review Policy is to provide a process for the equitable resolution of formal complaints made by a student over academic dismissal at the program level. Separate appeals policies exist for violations of academic integrity and academic grade appeals. Each nursing program has a student manual/handbook made available to its students that includes, at a minimum, the program’s (1) academic requirements; (2) professionalism and/or ethical requirements and standards; (3) a description of the program’s process for progression and dismissal or otherwise sanctioning a student for failing to meet program requirements; and (4) a copy of the dismissal review policy.
