PSYN 134 - The Parent, the Child, and the School Credit(s): 3 Cross-Listed With: BHSC 134 This seminar will focus on the dynamic interaction between parental attitudes and values and the child’s cognitive and emotional growth from pre-school through the elementary grades. Students will then identify parental behaviors, which complement the school’s educational mission of developing the full cognitive potential of each child. Through role-play, and readings on child and adult development, students will explore ways to construct a supportive learning environment in the home. Finally, students will explore environmental factors, which impact on the interactions between the parent, child and the school.
A Life Arts Project is required.
This course is only open to students in the B.A. Liberal Arts and Sciences program.
