OCTR 260 - Occupational Therapy Practice for the Assistant: Childhood and Adolescence Credit(s): 6 Prerequisite(s): OCTR 201 , OCTR 204 (for part-time OTA students). Corequisite(s): OCTR 201 , OCTR 203 , OCTR 204 (for full-time OTA students), OCTR 260A. This course is required for all students in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program. This course addresses the normal developmental process, the health-related disorders commonly associated with these stages, and the roles of the occupational therapy assistant in serving pediatric and adolescent clients in order for them to achieve maximum independence in occupational performance. The course builds upon the material learned in OCTR 260A. Consistent with the curriculum focus on the developmental process, participants will be introduced to typical and atypical development in the first 21 years of life. Students will develop skills in observation, communication, and clinical reasoning skills. Offered in fall semester only.
