BHSC 282 - Perspectives on Aging Credit(s): 3 Cross-Listed With: SOCL 282 Prerequisite(s): PSYN 239 - Adult Development and Aging or PSYN 315 - Aging and Mental Health . An introduction to the challenges and opportunities involved in the delivery of geriatric services in the community and in institutional settings. Emphasis is placed on stimulating awareness, interest and inquiry into the historical trends, issues, controversies and realities of providing meaningful programs for elderly clients. Attention will be given to the following issues: cultural diversity, bioethics, interdisciplinary teams in geriatric settings, case management, family relationships, functional assessment, client abuse, and environmental impact on functional capacity in work with this population.
