CHEM 139 - Essentials of Gen,Org, Biochem Credit(s): 2 2 hours lecture, 2 hours contact Corequisite(s): Must be taken concurrently with CHEM 140A Essentials Gen,Org,Biochem Lab. Prerequisite(s)/Corequisite(s): MATH 116 This is a one-semester introduction to general, organic, and biochemistry. This course will explore how human physiology is governed by the complex structures, properties, and transformations of matter at the molecular scale. Students will learn how to perform calculations commonly conducted in chemistry and the health professions. Examples from medicine and consumer-based applications will be used to illustrate principles of chemistry.
