PSYN 443 - Psych Issues of Parenting

Prerequisite(s): PSYN 106 Introduction to Psychology  and a course in Child or Developmental Psychology.
The tasks of parenthood have become increasingly complex. The purpose of this seminar is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to help parents or prospective parents cope with issues related to children in church, school, or social service agency settings. Topics include: the physical and psychological development of the child; theories of behavior management; the role of the parent in the cognitive and affective development of the child; and methods for teaching parents how to increase their skill in interacting effectively with their children. A Life Arts Project is required. Only open to students in the B.A. Liberal Arts and Sciences program.
