MATH 124 - Statistics Credit(s): 3-4 3-4 hours lecture, 3-4 hours contact Prerequisite(s): Students must have successfully passed the math placement exam. This course is designed to serve as a general introduction to mathematical statistics for students in all academic areas. The course presents the basic statistical ideas, techniques, and elementary research design applicable to such disciplines as social science and education. Topics to be studied include introduction to statistics, frequency distribution, measures of central tendency and variability, elementary probability, normal distribution, confidence interval, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression.
This course is only open to students in the B.A. Liberal Arts and Sciences program.
