SOWK 314 - Issues Diversity Socl Wk Pract Credit(s): 3 3 hours lecture, 3 hours contact Prerequisite(s): Non-majors must obtain permission of director of the Social Work Program. This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the impact of race, ethnicity, class, gender and sexual orientation on life styles, options and choices. Students will also learn how oppression, discrimination, stigma, racism and sexism create and affect diverse populations. Implications will be drawn for service delivery and social work practice with and on behalf of clients.
