PSYN 411 - Advanced Family Counseling

Prerequisite(s): An introductory and intermediate level Psychology course and a social or behavioral science course focusing on the family.
The purpose of this seminar is to strengthen students’ theoretical understanding and application of family therapy. By examining standard as well as pioneering family counseling approaches students will develop advanced understanding of Personal theory, professional development, and therapeutic change/outcome. This course will also emphasize and encourage each student’s development of a conceptual understanding of family therapy practice and an expanding repertoire of specific treatment skills and interventions. A Life Arts Project is required. Only open to students in the B.A. Liberal Arts and Sciences program.
