COMM 103 - New Media & Society Credit(s): 6 6 hours lecture, 6 hours contact This seminar will identify the history and utility of the Internet and digital media in society. Students will explore the role of the Internet in the creation of the “Global Village” as well as internet related issues including Copyright laws, security issues, and privacy infringement. In addition, students will examine current literature on discerning the academic quality of internet sites and information. Finally, the reproduction, definition, and utilization of audio samples and video images via digital media and their impact on society will be explored.
A Life Arts Project is required.
Only open to students in the B.A. Liberal Arts and Sciences program.
