MTEC 235 - Hist. Music Production & Tech Credit(s): 3 3 hours lecture, 3 hours contact Prerequisite(s): ENGL 112 . CINQ 101 and COMM 110 are recommended. The course examines the history of music production since 1877, as well as the limitations and affordances imposed on it by available audio technology. Special attention is paid to successful collaborative communities, as well as musical genres and landmark recordings of the period between the 1950s and 1980s. Students write assigned papers and give short oral presentations of their research. Offered in Fall and Spring semesters.
