MEDA 261 - Free Speech/Media & Law Credit(s): 3 3 hours lecture, 3 hours contact Cross-Listed With: LAWS 261 Prerequisite(s): ENGL 111 This course explores the shifting relationship between free expression and media technologies. From a philosophical and legal foundation, it immerses students into the technological, social and cultural issues surrounding the First Amendment, including privacy rights, pornography, copyright and libel. The course challenges students by posing a critical question: Are there any forms of free speech that should be restricted? If so, which ones and who decides?
