CNSL 502 - Substance Abuse: Prevention and Intervention Credit(s): 3 3 semester hours This course is designed to equip the counselor with the knowledge to help persons with substance-abuse problems. The focus of the class will be to review the historical background of substance abuse and dependency; study the psychological, social, pharmacological and legal aspects of substance abuse; recognize that alcohol dependency can become an adaptive response; and develop an awareness in the student of the important role of prevention.
