EDUC 522 - Language Development and Literacy Acquisition Credit(s): 3 3 semester hours This course focuses on child development from Birth–Grade 6, with an emphasis on oral language development as the foundation for literacy acquisition. Special emphasis is placed upon emergent literacy and effective techniques for encouraging growth in receptive and expressive communication in young children. Research focusing on the relationship between language and literacy is reviewed. Ten hours of fieldwork required.
