CRJU 383 - Criminalistics I

An Introduction to the field of Criminalistics, commonly referred to as Forensic Science. The course introduces the student to how science is applied as an investigative tool in criminal investigations. Each discipline within the field will be discussed and the student will be exposed to varied approaches in the laboratory analysis of physical evidence. The course will also cover how forensic science is used in the criminal justice system, particularly in the courts; and, examine controversies in how forensic science has been applied in some criminal investigations. The future of the field will be examined.
