BIOL 105 - Pathways in Biology

This course provides an overview of diverse professions in biology and the nature of scientific inquiry throughout varied career paths. Students will evaluate ethical dilemmas and scientific integrity in biology and related fields. Guest lectures given by professionals in scientific research, education, science publishing, patent law, biomedical financial consulting, epidemiology and healthcare-related careers, will enable students to learn first-hand the demands and roles of these varied professions and the necessary attributes and qualifications needed to pursue these careers. Students will begin the early stages of career planning, preparing today for future careers in fields that require comprehensive scientific knowledge.
